Summary on Goodreads:

**Please note this book is a dark romance and deals with serious themes.*

Every day for six years, I used to pray that I would find my way back to the boy I loved.

Until finally, one day, I did.
But that’s the funny thing about life. Nothing good ever lasts, not for me, anyway. You think you’re the one with the power, at least I did, but then I got careless. One tiny mistake, and now I am powerless to stop what comes next.

People think money equals power, but all the money in my bank account, the dirty notes laundered clean that my father left for me, are useless.
Money does not equal power. Power is held by the one with the knife in his hand, tracing shallow cuts into your skin.
Power is held by the one who owns you.
I had power once.
Now, I have nothing.

***REVIEW***

As you all know- Gypsy Brothers series are one of my favorite dark romance reads. I loved the first four installments and after that epic, but at the same time terrifying ending of the previous book I was dying to get my hands on this one and then I did and things didn't exactly go as I expected. By all odds according to Goodreads, Amazon, Kobo, B&N rating and the reviews of my friends I should have adored this book, but unfortunately- I did not. Actually, the feeling which this installment provoked in me is - deep frustration.

It's almost impossible to explain the reasons for the way I felt without spoiling the story. That's why I'll be short. The main reason for my low rating is because of the way the author decided to develop the plot. The story just lost its credibility in my eyes and I had that nagging feeling-> this-can-happen-only-in-a-book and that's why I couldn't immerse myself completely.  And then there were also some of those soap opera moments which only added fuel to my frustration.  The writing was decent and there were some plot developments I liked, most of which happened in the 2nd half of the book, but not enough to ease my initial frustration.

The story was dark, suspenseful and gory. It's probably the darkest installment in the series so far containing some situations only fans of dark romance will be comfortable with. I didn't have problems with that aspect of the story. I expected smth like that after *that ending* of the 4th book. I just wish the author had developed it a bit differently, or to be exact- in a more realistic way. Even though I wasn't satisfied with this book like the majority I  still recommend this series to fans of dark romance and will be reading the next one in the near future. I just hope the author doesn't end it with a wedding or a baby shower what will sound incredulous after all this tragedy and ruin this series completely, at least for me. *fingers crossed*

  1. Oh that's disappointing. Hard when they cross that line a bit too hard into unbelievable. Hopefully the next will work better for ya.

    1. Thanks, Anna, Hope so too :)

If it were paranormal or fantasy genre I could handle it, but when you write more realistic fiction it's another story.
