Review: THE SHADOW AND THE STAR by Laura Kinsale

He is a man of dark secrets—wealthy, strong, majestically handsome—the master of the ancient arts of a distant land. Scarred by a cruel childhood, he has sworn only to love chastely ... yet he burns with the heat of unfulfilled desire.

She is innocent and nearly destitute, yet she possesses a beauty as incandescent as a heavenly orb. And she is drawn to this powerful stranger by a need she cannot deny.

Never has such passion so consumed a man and a woman. But by giving his heart freely, the Shadow risks everything he believes in. And to follow her enigmatic warrior means the Star must enter his world of intrigue, vengeance, and desire—and surrender to the most dangerous love there ever could be.

In January, 2015 I fell in love with a book, a book so beautiful it was more than enough to make me a fan of the author who wrote it. Since Flowers from the Storm I've only read three more novels penned by Laura Kinsale, in part because knowing I still have several of her books left to read comforts me, and in part because I'm a bit of a chicken -- Ms. Kinsale's books are beautifully written, but not always easy to read. In all honesty, I started reading The Shadow and the Star way back in May. After only a few pages, I decided I wasn't ready to find out what the main characters would have to go through to get their happy ending. Once November came, I figured it was high time I read the novel Laura Kinsale declared as her favorite book she'd written.

Now, I feel silly for waiting this long to read it because it exceeded my high expectations. It's been too long since I loved a book as much as I loved The Shadow and the Star. I was on the brink of tears when I finished it, not because it was a sad ending, but because I didn't want to let it go. 449 pages, yet it ended all too soon. Not even an epilogue was there to comfort me.

That was four days ago. Ever since I've been trying to find the right words to express what it was that once again made me fall in love with Ms. Kinsale's storytelling, but I'm afraid whatever I come up with, doesn't seem enough. Lets just say it was everything, okay? The Shadow and the Star reminded me of the time I first read this author. What wonderful and nerve-racking reading experiences! Laura Kinsale's heroes and heroines have mountains of trouble to conquer before getting to their happy ending. I normally breathe a sigh of relief when I get to the last page and find the main characters in a good place at last. This time was different. I was about halfway through when I finally started believing that no matter what happened, it would be alright in the end, and I realized that even when it seemed like a chasm was opening between the main characters, Samuel and Leda, Ms. Kinsale was actually very slowly bringing them together. Their 449 pages long journey was an emotional roller coaster: heartbreaking mostly, but also heartwarming, at times frustrating, and even though I was often dangerously close to crying, there were parts I found amusing, and instances when I would just laugh out loud.

I've been reading what I wrote about Flowers from the Storm, and this part caught my attention: the main reason I fell in love with this book was Christian Langland, Duke of Jervaulx. I could say the same thing now, just with a different name: the main reason I fell in love with this book was Samuel Gerard. Tortured heroes seem to be a specialty of Ms. Kinsale, and Samuel was tortured as they come. He first appeared in The Hidden Heart as a boy in horrendous circumstances, to say the least. I haven't read that book, but that part of Samuel's life was covered enough not to feel important pieces of his backstory were missing. Besides that, there were chapters which were snippets from Samuel's past showing how he became who he was in the present time: from coming to Hawaii to live with Lady Tess, to being trained by their Japanese butler in ancient martial arts, deciding to marry Kai, Lady Tess's daughter, once she was old enough, and working hard to be a successful businessman and worthy of Kai. He had made decisions regarding his future and was focused on accomplishing his goals. In present time, Samuel and the Ashland family were in London for Her Majesty's Jubilee. There, Samuel, or the Shadow Warrior, crossed paths with Leda, and his life started going the way he never planned.

Leda's circumstances were bad at the beginning. She had been brought up as a proper lady, but after both her guardian and the first heir to her guardian's house died, she had to move and rent a shabby room in a dreadful neighborhood. She was barely making ends meet working as a showroom woman, and even that position she had to leave when her employer made apparent the dishonorable way of earning extra money. From there on her situation only got worse. Then one night a stranger broke into her room, only it wasn't a stranger at all, but Mr. Gerard, the devastatingly handsome, cold angel she had met just before she had to resign her job. She helped him, and chose not to disclose his crimes to the police, but only when she had to abandon her room without anything did she find herself in front of Samuel's house ready to accept his offer to become his secretary.

In the Ashlands' home Leda was welcomed with open arms. Bickering with Samuel about proper behavior aside, she was comfortable and safe. A true friendship was forming between them, with stolen glances, touches, words and thoughts alluding to stronger feelings. Leda was first to admit to herself she had fallen in love with Mr. Gerard. Samuel, on the other hand, was quite clueless in figuring out his feelings. The aloof, cold, calm, calculated man turned out to be none of those things inside. He was apparently in turmoil since he met Leda. His desire for her shamed him, though if he was being honest, he did everything to tie her to him. His mind was troubled -- he burned for one woman, and was planning to propose to another, not even realizing his feelings for Kai were those of a protective brother or that his vision of their life together was nowhere near to one of a happy, married couple in love. Oh, the man was deeply conflicted, it was painful to read. The mountain of trouble this hero had to conquer was in his mind. Luckily, despite his determination to stay away from Leda, his body lead him right to her -- a repeating theme throughout the book. It took an intervention from Lady Tess and Lord Gryphon to convince him to do right by Leda. However, with Leda's primness and apparent inability to be frank and open about anything but furniture, it would seem, and Samuel's reserved nature, these two still had a long way to go. I wouldn't say they succeeded at openness even at the end. That's why I wished there was an epilogue, to find them happy and laughing for once, especially Samuel. Yeah, Samuel's laughter would have been nice to wrap it all up.

What can I say in the end, except that Laura Kinsale is a freaking genius. The Shadow and the Star is so richly written, what I wrote about it is only a part of the story I didn't want to end. Ordering another of her books helped with the book hangover, though I'd feel much better if I heard the news Ms. Kinsale was publishing a new novel. In the meantime, I still have eight more of her books to read. Eight more heroes to develop an embarrassing crush on.

Until next time, happy reading!

XOXO,

REVIEW: Torn (Devil's Wolves #1) by Carian Cole

Buy from Amazon

SUMMARY:

He’s loved me since the day I was born.
He’s taken care of me.
He’s awakened me.

Tor. My father’s best friend.
Fifteen years older than me, he’s always been my protector.
The one I should never, ever want.
But I was born to be his.

She’s always loved me.
She’s shattered me.
She’s healed me.

Kenzi. My best friend’s daughter.
I held her the day she was born, and I never let go.
She’s forbidden to me. But she’s the only one that really gets me.
We’re slowly being torn apart by everything we love.
Everything we want.
Everything we desire.

And now I want the one thing I can’t have... I want her.

** Please note: There is no underage sex in this book. This is a romance. **

MY RATING:

MY REVIEW:
Taboo romance lovers, behold!

So, in the morning I was browsing this list ’11 taboo books you should read’ or something like that and this one was on it. By that evening, I was already reading this. Never mind that I have 100 other books to read. Taboo books are my weakness.

As Drake would say:

Anyhow, this was unexpectedly good. A lot of books try to sell themselves as taboo, but you don’t feel that forbidden factor. Here I felt it all. There is the age difference of 15 years between Tor and Kenzie, plus he’s her father’s best friend and he helped raise her. So you can see how it’s all very tricky.

I think all relationships start with an invisible line, and even though we can’t see it, we all know it’s there because we can feel it. We respect that line because it keeps the bounds of the relationship intact. The line guides us within our relationships and dictates who is our friend, who is our family, who is our lover, who is someone we can or can’t trust.

But I loved how everything was handled; there is a slow transition from family to friends to lovers. They don’t get together too fast and I love that. They struggle with their feelings and attraction towards each other.

Ah, the sexual tension, the angst, it was all so very hot and emotional.

I feel sick.
I feel twisted.
I feel unhinged with want for her.

So yeah, this book will make you uncomfortable, but if you’re like me, and like these books that dance on the edge of appropriate, you’ll like this.

Purple's Top Reads Of 2016

Hi, everyone!
Long time no see. First of all, I hope you had a blast for holidays and may 2017 be even more successful and filled with love, health & happiness for you and your family. Due to working two jobs last year I've been AWOL from the readers world for the most part, so the list of books I've read in 2016 is pretty short. That's why my top reads of 2016 will be even shorter. There's this one read that stood out for me last year and it was a buddy read with my fellow blogger Beatrix (Check out our longer version of Buddy Review of Cam Girl if you haven't yet.)

Cam Girl By Leah Raeder

Synopsis On GR:

“Darkly erotic…a must read” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Unteachable and Black Iris comes a new, sexy romantic suspense novel about two best friends who are torn apart by a life-shattering accident…and the secrets left behind.

Vada Bergen is broke, the black sheep of her family, and moving a thousand miles away from home for grad school, but she’s got the two things she loves most: her art and her best friend—and sometimes more—Ellis Carraway. Ellis and Vada have a friendship so consuming it’s hard to tell where one girl ends and the other begins. It’s intense. It’s a little codependent. And nothing can tear them apart.

Until an accident on an icy winter road changes everything.

Vada is left deeply scarred, both emotionally and physically. Her once-promising art career is cut short. And Ellis pulls away, unwilling to talk about that night. Everything Vada loved is gone.

She’s got nothing left to lose.

So when she meets some smooth-talking entrepreneurs who offer to set her up as a cam girl, she can’t say no. All Vada has to do is spend a couple hours each night stripping on webcam, and the “tips” come pouring in.

It’s just a kinky escape from reality until a client gets serious. “Blue” is mysterious, alluring, and more interested in Vada’s life than her body. Online, they chat intimately. Blue helps her heal. And he pays well, but he wants her all to himself. No more cam shows. It’s an easy decision: she’s starting to fall for him. But the steamier it gets, the more she craves the real man behind the keyboard. So Vada pops the question:

Can we meet IRL?

Blue agrees, on one condition. A condition that will bring back a ghost from her past.

Now Vada must confront what she’s been running from. A past full of devastating secrets—those of others and those she’s been keeping from herself…

Purple's rating: 5/5 stars

"All art comes from pain."
Dark, raw, thought-provoking, erotic, poignant, inspiring... but above all beautifully written. It's such a complex, powerful and skilfully written story that makes me feeling inadequate to even write a review about it...

"My love is savage and rapacious. It isn't content to touch. It wants to be inside, crawl into the marrow, caress each vein until the cells are all mixed up and there is no you and me anymore, no secrets or shadows sliding between our skin. Only this endless devouring of each other."

...it's the type of a book which will make you question and give another, inside perspective about themes such as self-discovery, sexuality and genders in general.

Highly recommended to every fan of dark, suspensful, steamy and thought-provoking mindfucks which will keep you second-guessing till the very end.

 Beatrix' rating: 4/5 stars

What a strange world where we pay people to listen to our problems, and pay them to fuck themselves while we watch, and pay them to save us.

Once upon a time (okay, when I read Unteachable) I fell in love with Leah Raeder’s words. And ever since, I await her next novel with delightful anticipation. It’s like (s)he has this deep, profound relationship with words, and we, as readers, should feel lucky we get to read what comes out of her/his pen. (S)he is an artist, just like Vada, MC of this novel.

Cam Girl is another beautifully written novel, and one which raises a lot of important issues, main one being our preconceived notions about gender and sexuality. Masterfully portrayed, Cam Girl is a novel I will for sure recommend to many people...

*** REVIEW ***

I've rated most of the new installments of my favorite series around 3 stars, but that's not the case with Magic Binds, the 9th installment of the Kate Daniels series written by the famous duo I. Andrews. This series is at book 9# and I don't know how they do it, but the story only gets better and better.

This series has everything I love about urban fantasy/paranormal genre:

- non-stop thrilling action

- intriguing paranormal/mythological characters

- sweet Curran ft. Kate moments

- creepy Roman ft. Kate bonding (issues)

- fun, strong & bad-ass female character

- super hot lion shifter for a male character

- awesome secondary characters

- awesome plot

- awesome ending

It's safe to say that the next installment is definitely included in my most expected reads of 2017 list. Highly recommended!

REVIEW: The Bourbon Thief by Tiffany Reisz

BOOK SUMMARY

From the internationally celebrated author of the Original Sinners series comes a brand-new tale of betrayal, revenge and a family scandal that bore a 150-year-old mystery

When Cooper McQueen wakes up from a night with a beautiful stranger, it's to discover he's been robbed. The only item stolen—a million-dollar bottle of bourbon. The thief, a mysterious woman named Paris, claims the bottle is rightfully hers. After all, the label itself says it's property of the Maddox family who owned and operated Red Thread Bourbon distillery since the last days of the Civil War until the company went out of business for reasons no one knows… No one except Paris.

In the small hours of a Louisville morning, Paris unspools the lurid tale of Tamara Maddox, heiress to the distillery that became an empire. But the family tree is rooted in tainted soil and has borne rotten fruit. Theirs is a legacy of wealth and power, but also of lies, secrets and sins of omission. The Maddoxes have bourbon in their blood—and blood in their bourbon. Why Paris wants the bottle of Red Thread remains a secret until the truth of her identity is at last revealed, and the century-old vengeance Tamara vowed against her family can finally be completed.

MY REVIEW

You can’t sell people.
A story was born when a girl with a red thread in her hair was raped and sold.

Storytelling is most definitely Tiffany Reisz’s strongest suit. I was completely captivated with the story. The first chapter was nothing special honestly (exactly what the blurb says), but then the story of Tamara Maddox begins and you are under its spell. Around 20% mark was the big shock, I was honestly stunned, but then I remembered - this is Tiffany Reisz after all, you should expect something twisted.

Her body was his body. His body was hers. He saw himself through her eyes—older, bigger, beautiful to her in that strange way girls found men beautiful, and knowing things she wanted to know. She envied him his freedom, that he was a man and could do anything he wanted to anyone he wanted, while she had to marry him to escape the prison of her life and the prison of the world’s expectations.

The story is a times heavy and tragic, but there are these comic moments which prevent it from being too dark. And there is of course the hot, passionate and forbidden love story between Tamara and Levi. (*swoon*)

The story itself had me turning pages like crazy… but at the same time, there is this undertone of, I don’t know how to put it.. Nostalgia, maybe? Like you’re reminiscing about that amazing Summer you had 5 years ago and can never have back. That’s how I felt about Tamara & Levi, I loved them, I was drinking up every minute of their story, but all the while thinking it can’t last, I feel like something is going to happen... Now, of course I’m not going to reveal anything, that’s just the feeling I had, and I loved the way Reisz structured the story. I like when I don’t know if the story would end happily or not.

Furthermore, if you’re already a fan of Tiffany Reisz you know you can expect that she’ll rip out your heart a little, mesmerize you with the story, shock, disturb, and make you question. And if you’re not, well then you have some idea as to what to expect.

In conclusion, The Bourbon Thief is the story of revenge, passionate love and one cursed family and it’s definitely one of my favorite books of 2016!

One of these days you’re going to get what you want and it’ll be the last thing you want.

*** REVIEW ***
RATING: 3/5 stars

I don't know what's up with me this year since I've rated quite a few of the newest and most expected installments of most of my favorite series with 3 stars. Blasphemy, I know!

Never thought that the day will come I'll rate Singh's Guild Hunter series lower than 4 stars, but that day has come people and I can not lie. Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with other readers who said that this book was more of a "filler" and while I did like it, it didn't blow my mind like the rest of the books in the series. I did crave this installment to be Bluebell's & Sparkle's story and was a bit disappointed we've got Elena & Raphael again instead, but the main reason for my rating is:
~ the slow pacing/dragging of the story at the beginning and towards the end which made me want to skip pages. IMO, the author resolved the main mystery in an antclimatic way and I've found the behaviour of some important characters considering their past unrealistic. And there was too little Bluebell/Illium, damn it!:(

I won't say anything else about that, because there would be spoilers. The things I loved on the other hand are our lovely and fierce consort Elena & her archangel Raphael who are still in the honeymoon phase, of course not to forget our beautiful Sparkle/ Aodhan who had an important role in this installment (yessss!) and the new creepy characters known as the Luminata (w.t.f. O.O)

No matter my rating, this series still remains one of my top urban fantasy series out there and I highly recommend it to every uf reader out there. The next book is again included in my most expected reads of 2017 list. Will I finally get my Bluebell's & Sparkle's story? It remains to be seen.*fingers crossed*

Review: FALL (Rock Solid #2) by Karina Bliss

BOOK SUMMARY:

So how can she explain getting busy between the sheets with Rage's nice-guy drummer Seth Curran? She's supposed to be keeping this band out of trouble, not getting into it.
But before she can put everything back where it belongs, Seth needs her help.

Faking a relationship seemed like a good idea that night, right before they fell into bed together. But standing on New Zealand soil, facing the people he disappointed to pursue his dream, Seth doubts he and Dimity will convince anyone they're hot and crazy for each other. To his surprise, Dimity is working her magic on everyone and they're all convinced this is the real deal. The problem is, he's almost convinced, too.

MY RATING:

***MY REVIEW***

Fall is the second book in the Rock Solid series, however it has different main characters than the first book. Nevertheless, I highly recommend Rise as well, simply because it really is such a great novel! Rise was about the rock god Zander, and Fall is about his PA Dimity and band’s drummer, Seth.

On the surface, Dimity and Seth couldn’t be more different. She’s the ice-queen, he’s the nice guy.
This is Dimity:
She shook her head, unable to answer him, unable to imagine anyone loving her enough to make the offer. She wasn’t the kind of woman who inspired forever. It was hard enough living with herself sometimes.
And this is Seth:
Everyone loved Seth. He could transition from playing pool with roadies to discussing economics with financiers – he even loved kids. Dimity had even seen him kiss a dog once.
But their differences are precisely the reason why the fit together so well. Dimity was an amazing protagonist, she’s complex, seemingly cold, focus-driven, ambitious, and sharp-tongued – overall a strong woman and we need more characters like Dimity in contemporary romance novels. Dimity hides her vulnerabilities behind her tough exterior and Seth is the only one who sees the fragile woman underneath. On the other hand – Seth. Oh Seth. Where do I sign up for to get a Seth of my own? He’s the nice guy, with a wild, pagan side which only occasionally gets released, he’s not intimidated by Dimity in the slightest. He teases her mercilessly, he simply gets her.

The book has friends-to-lovers theme, plus they’re faking a relationship in order to help Seth get his ex back. Yet, the book is not all about relationships drama, which I appreciated, other topics are explored (e.g. Seth’s complicated relationship with his father) and other characters get to share the spotlight as well. For example, Zander has an important role in the novel. He’s Dimity’s boss, but he’s also so much more, he’s her mentor, her constant in life. He too was once, like Dimity is now, married to his career, and now that’s he is moving on in his life, pursuing other interests, Dimity feels lost, doesn’t know to whom to look up to anymore. She’s thrown off her game. Therefore, Dimity’s relationship with herself if also given attention, she realizes which things matter most in life.

The reason why I love Karina Bliss’s books so much is because of her writing. It’s what distinguishes her from other authors of this genre. She structures her novels well, pays attention to the words she chooses, sentences flow perfectly together. After reading just one chapter, you can tell – this woman can write! And it’s a pure pleasure reading when someone writes this good. Her characters are relatable – even though they’re rock stars! You get the heartache, yet they don’t take themselves too seriously. You get sweet, and you get sexy. I immensely enjoyed Seth and Dimity’s story and I can’t wait to see what Karina Bliss prepares us next!

The Subs Club book V!

FIVE!!!

description

I wished for this all along.

I haven't written a review in a long time. It wasn't because the books I found the time to read didn't leave me with thoughts about them I would've liked to express, but because putting those thoughts into words proved to be a more difficult task than I remembered. Even if it was a book I loved reading like I did Slave Hunt. I'm rusty. I kind of just want to thank J.A. Rock for writing another story set in that universe and letting me have more precious pages with the characters who have become so dear to me, and say (in shouty caps, of course) that I LOVE THIS WHOLE SERIES, but because I love it so much, I feel I should say a few more words than that, so here goes nothing.

Slave Hunt is about, well, a slave hunt that Riddle organized in the woods on D's property. Tops were hunting bottoms with paintball guns, and the captured slaves were taken to whipping posts and were played with. All in good fun. Of course, the members of the Subs Club were there for the fun games. Except Miles -- he was there hoping to win gift cards. And over the course of that two-hour hunt I got what I hoped for ever since I finished 24/7, and that's to see how Dave, Miles, Kamen, and Gould were doing, what they were dealing with, and how far they'd come after the series sort of ended. Not only that, Maya, Drix, RYAN, Kel, Greg, and D got their own chapters, which made it even better. I wasn't sure how the ten different perspectives would work, but I soon realized that was silly of me. J.A. Rock knows what she's doing.

With some of the characters, I was happy to see a change in them, and with some, I was happy to see they're the same as I remembered them. Kamen falls in the latter category. He is a character who always cheered me up. Whenever I got to a chapter with his name, I started smiling, and didn't stop until it was over. Smiles and laughter are a given when it comes to Kamen. RYAN'S CHAPTERS ALSO MADE ME LAUGH. Kamen, Ryan, and Hemsworth -- it's always fun to read about them. Whether it involves manties, hot sauce or Kamen's ballads, fun is guaranteed.

Dave and D were interesting as per usual. I couldn't wait to read D's chapters to see what's in that man's head, and they were very D-like. This book revealed more of D's feelings, and it was so sweet. It gave me warm and fuzzy feelings reading about D expressing more of his feelings for Dave. I believe a perceptive vampyre played a role in encouraging D to be more verbal in his affection. Drix's interaction with D and the other characters were among my favorite parts of the book, especially the one with Gould. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked reading his chapters. Drix's other half, Miles, also needed some courage to express his wishes. He, however, gathered it after playing with someone else, and by the end even he had fun at the slave hunt. As did Gould, which I was incredibly glad for. His story was the most emotional one in the series, and this happier Gould was a welcome change.

It all ended with a very special ballad by Kamen, which is the only way it should have ended. Overall, Slave Hunt wrapped up the series in an even better way than I could have hoped, which only left me wanting more. So when the words Want more Subs Club? Sign up for This Rebus Does Not Work, a Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock newsletter, and receive a free collection of Subs Club short stories with your subscription. came into view, I was over the moon. J.A. Rock made my wish come true again. I've been keeping my eye on my inbox ever since.

ARC Review: A GENTLEMAN'S POSITION (Society of Gentlemen, #3) by K.J. Charles

  Summary

Power, privilege, and the rigid rules of class leave two hearts yearning for connection in the sizzling new Society of Gentlemen novel from K. J. Charles.

Among his eccentric though strictly principled group of friends, Lord Richard Vane is the confidant on whom everyone depends for advice, moral rectitude, and discreet assistance. Yet when Richard has a problem, he turns to his valet, a fixer of unparalleled genius—and the object of Richard’s deepest desires. If there is one rule a gentleman must follow, it is never to dally with servants. But when David is close enough to touch, the rules of class collide with the basest sort of animal instinct: overpowering lust.

For David Cyprian, burglary and blackmail are as much in a day’s work as bootblacking—anything for the man he’s devoted to. But the one thing he wants for himself is the one thing Richard refuses to give: his heart. With the tension between them growing to be unbearable, David’s seemingly incorruptible master has left him no choice. Putting his finely honed skills of seduction and manipulation to good use, he will convince Richard to forget all about his well-meaning objections and give in to sweet, sinful temptation.

Rating: 5 stars!

A perfect romance novel!

It only took me reading the prologue to know what I'd already assumed: I would love A Gentleman's Position. Full of love, yearning, dreaming, and heartache, it was my favorite kind of romance.

The love story of Lord Richard Vane and the great Cyprian was long awaited. Cyprian intrigued me from the beginning as the Society's redheaded problem solver, and Richard, though not my favorite person in A Seditious Affair, I still wished to see get his happy ending, for Cyprian's sake, but mostly I wanted to see him break free of that heavy burden that was his sense of responsibility and duty, and whatnot, all the things that kept him from going after what he desired most: Cyprian.

It took four years and seven months for Richard to finally get there. Or around 40% of the book, but it was so worth it. I loved every page leading up to it, during it, and after it. I'd forgotten how much I like reading love stories tinged with sadness.

Of all the books by KJ Charles (and I've read almost all of them) this is the one that made my heart ache for the main characters the most, and I adored it for it.

Getting to know Richard's, and Cyprian's families and their pasts was an excellent addition to an already amazing story.

Other characters that made me go into fangirl mode were all the men who already got their own stories: Silas & Dom, Julius & Harry, Ash & Francis, they were all here, just like the final book in this series deserved.

Their little society was threatened by the extremely unpleasant Lord Maltravers. It was time once again for Lord Richard to protect them all, and to do that Cyprian was essential. While Cyprian was busy with plotting and scheming to take down Maltravers and save their group from demise, Richard was agonizing over finding a way to make his relationship with Cyprian work...

It was quite satisfying how it was all resolved.

A perfect ending to the Society of Gentlemen series.

KJ Charles continues to impress me with her work. I cannot recommend it enough. To anyone who likes reading M/M historical romance novels, this series is a MUST read.

Now I'll just go sit in a corner and cry because it's over.

Note to self: Re-read all KJ Charles books as soon as possible.
