Synopsis:

New York City’s streets are more dangerous than ever with the leaderless Order of Adrasteia and the Ikelos Coalition, a newly immerged Therian group, at war. Worse yet, someone inside the THIRDS has been feeding the Coalition information. It’s up to Destructive Delta to draw out the mole and put an end to the war before anyone else gets hurt. But to get the job done, the team will have to work through the aftereffects of the Therian Youth Center bombing. A skirmish with Coalition members leads Agent Dexter J. Daley to a shocking discovery and suddenly it becomes clear that the random violence isn’t so random. ***REVIEW***

Addicted. Yup, I'm totally and irrevocably addicted when it comes to this mm paranormal romance series. I loved the first two books and this 3d installment definitely didn't disappoint.

Action-packed, thrilling, super-fun, emotional & way too hot.

~ The things I loved about this book the most:

~ Dex

Oh, the adorable, witty, geeky, bad-ass Thirds agent- Dexter J. Daley. He was and remains the main reason I'm reading this series. Love that guy!

~ Dex & Sloane

Dex' & Sloane's relationship is making huge progress. They are getting closer and closer and what's most important Sloane is finally taking a leap and opening up. The emotional parts with them two are one of my fav parts of the book.

And yes- I totally blame Charlie Cochet for putting images of Joe Manganiello (as Sloane) getting it on with Chris Pine (as Dex) and not being jealous at all, but- two words: hotness overload! She started it all with her perfect casting for this series and now there's no turning back for me.

"You're hopeless."
"I'm also nonrefundable."
"Surely there's a return policy."
"Forget it. You're past the thirty-day refund period.
You're stuck with me now.
And before you ask, I'm also nontransferable and nonexchangeable. If you donate me to charity there's no tax write-off because technically that would be considered Human trafficking."
"Wow. You've got your bases covered."
"You bet. Should have paid more attention to the Dexter J. Daley boyfriend agreement."

~ Cael & Ash

These two were so frustrating at times and at other times they were breaking my heart with every next page, but I know that it will all be worth it in the end. Can't freaking wait for their story, I just hope the author doesn't pull a J.R. Ward on us and make us wait a century for  it like Ward did with her Lover at Last (BBB, #11).

And the ending and that damn, nerv-racking cliffhanger? No, I'm not mad at you Charlie, because I know for sure that the next book will be again with Dex & Sloane as the MCs, so except the excruciating waiting, everything is good.

I highly recommend this series to every mm paranormal romance fan out there. Read it and meet the awesome Thirds!

"You don't have to run any more," Dex murmured, his fingers lacing with Sloane's.
"Stay. Right here with me."

ARC REVIEW: Crescendo (Songs Of the Fallen, #2) by Rachel Haimowitz

Buy The Book:

Author's Page:

Genre:
Fantasy/ MM Romance

Summary on Goodreads:

Bridging the hatred of centuries did not come easy for Freyrík Farr and Ayden Vaska. As prince of a war-torn human province, Freyrík could ill afford to fall for an enemy. And Ayden, an elven warrior with three hundred years of bitterness in his heart, wanted no part of love. Yet they came together despite themselves and the wills of their peoples, joining hearts and minds to fight a race of Dark Beasts threatening the extinction of mankind.

Yet the Dark Beast threat pales beside the dangers of a summons to the human High Court, home of the Aegis Exalted and the harshest test yet of Ayden’s and Freyrík’s fledgling love.

When the Aegis strips Ayden of his magic, Freyrík is forced to choose between his love for elf, Aegis, and king, all the while seeking the one uncertain path that might save his doomed race. Time is fast running out for mankind, and only by making peace amongst themselves and with their ancient elven enemies can they end the Dark war—and undo the tragedy that’s plagued humans, elves, and Dark Beasts alike for the last three hundred years.

(This title is a lightly revised second edition of Crescendo, previously released with a different press.)

"...and suddenly it didn't matter that their songs couldn't twine when their bodies and hearts and minds fit so perfectly, harmonized so exquisitely well. He hung in the moment, a perfect crescendo, and wanted for absolutely nothing."

Crescendo - A steady increase in intensity or force; a gradual increase in the loudness of a sound or section of music.

The 2nd and the final installment in the Songs of the Fallen series had everything I felt the 1st was missing- My Review- Counterpoint (SotF, #1) by R. Haimowitz. I liked the 1st book in the series a lot, but I wished that there had been more in-depth building of the fantasy world and less of the war strategies and this time to my delight we get that and much more.

The 2nd book continues right after the ending of the first one and that worrisome cliffhanger. Freyrik & Ayden are being taken to see the Aegis, Freyrik's king who heard about Freyrik's victory and infatuation with the beautiful elf slave and doesn't seem so pleased with the fact that Freyrik kept Ayden hidden from him, but there's also a hidden purpose to it all about which they find out from the Aegis himself later on. After their arrival Freyrik & Ayden get separated and forced to get involved in the ruthless and corrupting politics of the court which puts again their love, life and possible future together on test and what's even worse they take away from Ayden the one thing he always could rely on, the core of his being- his magic.

"Deaf...No. Worse than deaf. For all the beauty in the world's music had been shattered, stripped away, leaving only this broken wailing wrong in its place."

The fantasy fans will be in for a treat with this installment, because the author truly did her best when it comes to creating a unique and interesting fantasy world. We get to meet both sides of the courts- the human's and the elven's, their politics and their background and in the end we finally find out what really had happened between their ancestors in the past and made humans and elves sworn enemies. In a magical world of lies, secrets, betrayals can something so pure as love survive?

The story was dark, thrilling, heart-wrenching with some steamy scenes inbetween. I liked Freyrik a lot, but Ayden has stolen the hit spot yet again and remains my favorite character in this series. Whereas he did have a few spoiled and immature outbreaks in the first book, in this installment his more mature and brave side came to attention and what was even more admirable- his unwavering devotion and love towards Freyrik. In comparison to him Freyrik had a few moments of insecurity and doubt this time making him quite selfish in my eyes and making me believe that Ayden put more on stake than him when it comes to their forbidden romance, but you just wait, because eventually he will do *something* truly brave and heart-wrenching which will redeem every moment of doubt.

One of the best characteristics of this story is the beautiful, poetic writing style. It truly shows the amazing talent of this author and when all secrets come out you'll understand the true meaning behind this title and the series and how they fit perfectly into the story. The only thing I wish she did a bit differently is the search and the battle against the Fallen in the 2nd half of the book which I felt concluded too quickly and considering its importance I think the author should have described it more thoroughly. Other than that the story was perfect and the ending was more than satisfying. I recommend this series to all mm readers who are fans of mm fantasy books with an epic love story. This series were my first reads by R. Haimowitz, but they definitely won't be the last.

"He risked meeting Freyrik's eyes, saw within them a reflection of the malestorm he heard  in Freyrik's song. Fear, anxiety, carefully controlled panic...And love, gods, such love. Trust me, his gaze said. Always, he thought back..."

**SUMMARY**

Two addicts. One epic love story.

Prepare for the worst.

That’s what Lily and Lo try to do when Jonathan Hale schedules an “important” meeting. The problem: after being swept into the public eye and battling their addictions, they’re not sure what the worst is anymore.
In a sea of many changes—including Ryke & Daisy living with them—Lily realizes that the best part of her fluctuating hormones might just be the worst.
Her sex drive is out of control.
Loren knows that she’s insatiable, but he’s not giving up on her. She’s too much a part of him. And as he carries more and more responsibility, some of the people that he loves doubt his resolve.
In the conclusion to their love story, Lily & Lo stand side-by-side to fight, one last time, for their happily ever after.

**AUTHORS' NOTE**

Due to the 2-year gap between Addicted for Now (Addicted #2) and Addicted After All (Addicted #3), you must read Thrive (Addicted #2.5) or the Calloway Sisters spin-off series before reading Addicted After All.

MY RATING:

**MY REVIEW**

One EPIC love STORY.
I want to stress this part – epic story, and it is indeed so. I never even dreamed when I read the first book that I’ll fall in love with these characters so much. That I’d become addicted, really. Krista and Becca Ritchie have given us six amazing characters – family, friends, lovers. Connor is too conceited. Rose is too high-strung. Daisy is too wild. Ryke is too aggressive. Lily is too awkward. Lo is too hateful. And a story about growing up, making bad choices and becoming stronger in the aftermath of it all.

Honestly, it’s incredibly difficult for me to write this review, because I.just.loved.this.book.so.much. I cannot articulate my thoughts properly.. because well, we’re talking about my favorite NA books here.

Despite the fact that Lily & Lo are my least favorite couple (teams Nerd Stars and Raisin come first), I truly enjoyed AAA. It’s like with this book, I’ve finally grown to love Lily and Loren. Now that they’ve come full circle, became stronger I can fully understand them and their struggles. I finally see what a long way they’ve come.

I fell in love with Lo like a little girl opening her heart to magic. It always seemed surreal until the moment it became true.

Addicted After All was a rather emotional book to me, by this point we’re become so connected with these characters and I even had tears in my eyes. The most emotional scene for me was Lily’s confrontation with her mother. When she said: “Mom. I’m sick.” Oh, Lil. I wanted to hug her!

It’s no secret that Rose Calloway and Connor Cobalt are my favorite people in the Addicted universe, but after AAA, I’m becoming seriously Crazy for Raisy, perhaps it is so because they are so fresh, here, we see them for the first time as a proper couple. And, Ryke.  I’ve got newfound love and respect for him. He truly is the hero of their gang. I love that Ryke and Lily’s friendship is left intact and maybe even stronger than before. And after the long struggle, the brothers’ relationship is finally at a happy place. As it should be.

I think Ryke just wishes I was at his level. If all of us didn’t give a shit, then he’d never have to watch us crumble. I feel tears crest my eyes. I wish, so badly, that I could be more like him. Doesn’t he understand how much we’d all replace parts of ourselves to have a little of what he possesses?

Something else that needs to be addressed, unrelated to my excessive fangirling, is the writing. These authors sure know how to write, how to pull you into the story, create the most amazing set of characters… The fact that after 7 books, I still want more proves it. I’m a fan for life of K&B Ritchie and I know for sure, I’ll read anything they write!  I love the fact that the authors are in their early twenties and they’re writing about the characters in the early twenties, it just feels all the more real and authentic.

We’ve been obliterated and we’ve come together whole for the first time. Our lives are meteor showers on rewind. I don’t think we even knew what we’d be once we pieced ourselves back. Maybe we do belong in space with all the stable constant stars. We’re just the more destructive, more disastrous chaotic pieces, the comets that head towards earth.
In conclusion, I’m very happy with the way Lily & Lo’s story has ended, but I’m even happier that we get TWO MORE BOOKS and the next one is about my favorite couple – Coballoway all the way is coming our way. Be still my heart!

PS: Long live Fizzle Force!  ♥

Beatrix

Archangel's Shadows (Guild Hunter, #7) by Nalini Singh

Buy The Book:

Author's Page:

Genre:
Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance

Summary on Goodreads:

Return to New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s sensual and painfully beautiful Guild Hunter world in her new novel of sacrifice, loyalty, and the choices of love that can shatter the heart.

In the wake of a brutal war, the archangel Raphael and his hunter consort, Elena, are dealing with the treacherously shifting tides of archangelic politics and the people of a battered but not broken city. The last thing their city needs is more death, especially a death that bears the eerie signature of an insane enemy archangel who cannot— should not—be walking the streets.

This hunt must be undertaken with stealth and without alerting their people. It must be handled by those who can become shadows themselves…

Ash is a gifted tracker and a woman cursed with the ability to sense the secrets of anyone she touches. But there’s one man she knows all too well without a single instant of skin contact: Janvier, the dangerously sexy Cajun vampire who has fascinated and infuriated her for years. Now, as they track down a merciless killer, their cat-and-mouse game of flirtation and provocation has turned into a profound one of the heart. And this time, it is Ash’s secret, dark and terrible, that threatens to destroy them both.

RATING:

***REVIEW***

"She was his Achilles' heel, his personal, luminous madness."

I'm happy to say that Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh continue to amaze me and hold one of the top spots on my list of favorite urban fantasy series. This was one of my highly expected 2014 releases and once again it didn't disappoint, but end up being one of my favorite books of 2014 as always.

The story continues after the epic finale of the previous book. The city is still recovering from the shattering war against Lijuan and her army and in the midst of it all we are witnessing the slow-building romance between Ashwini, one of the Guild hunters, and Janvier, one of Raphael's vampires. I admit that Ashwini's and Janvier's story wasn't my first choice when deciding whose story I would like to read next after I had finished Archangel's Shadows (Guild Hunter, #6). I hoped more for Illium's, Venom's or even Nassir's story, but I don't have any regrets now, because Nalini Singh has managed yet again to deliver a captivating, thrilling, passionate and deeply emotional read.

Both of the MCs were the type of characters I love and prefer reading about. Ashwini was one of those smart, fierce and compassionate women with character and Janvier was a bad-ass, sensual, and provocative vampire, but also a true charmer who made me swoon a couple of times and that's big, because I really don't swoon easily, lol. While most of the story was focused on the slow building of their romance and the crime case they were handling, we also get a sneak-a-peek in the lives of other amazing characters (Elena, Raphael, Bluebell, Sparkle, Nassir, Dmitri etc.) There was also some introduction to the new characters we met for the first time in the previous book- The Legion. I loved how these angel soldiers are portrayed and can't wait to find out more about them and the role they'll play in the future installations.

"A fetid breath on the back of the neck.
A chill of bones. A cold whisper in the darkness.
There are those things that should not exist,
should not walk, should not breathe, should not be named.
There are those nightmares that, once given form,
can never be put back into the dreamscape."

The in-depth world building of this fantasy world is only getting better and better and the writing style of this author is simply amazing. My fingers were hurting from so much highlighting. Reading Nalini Singh's book is like listening to a beautiful melody. The only thing which kept me from rating it with 5 stars is that "the issue" which kind of prevent Ashwini & Janvier from being together through the most of the book in the end solved in the most convenient way which made me wondering why it had been a issue at all . That part could have been handled in my opinion a bit differently. That's why 4.5 stars. Other than that the book was perfect. I highly recommend this series to every urban fantasy fan. What are you waiting for- this is a must read!

"She gave him her soul, took his, and it was as it had always been meant to be."

XOXO
