REVIEW

Ilona Andrews simply can't do wrong when it comes to creating a compelling, action-packed and breath-taking urban fantasy/paranormal romance story with a fair dose of humor and fierce, charismatic and lovable characters. They show that with their every next book, just as they showed it with the third installment of HL series. The book was simply addictive. Unputdownable. I've read it in one day.

These two authors are one of few authors who know the perfect receipt when it comes to my ideal uf/pnr romance book and they keep delivering it every time. The series is fairly new, but they've become one of my favs as soon as I've read the 1st book. One of the biggest reasons for that are kick-ass, witty main and secondary characters who never disappoint. And I can't finish this review without mentioning the main hero - the (in)famous Prime Connor Rogan who makes me think R rated thoughts...dayum... that guy is definitely my new Barrons. 4 stars because of the Rynda case which was a bit irritating in the beginning.

Highly recommended to every urban fantasy/paranormal romance fan!

REVIEW: Archangel's Viper (GH series, #10) By Nalini Singh

Buy The Book:
AMAZON / B & NKOBO

Author's Page:

Genre:
Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance

Summary on Goodreads:

Enter New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh’s breathtakingly passionate Guild Hunter world with the story of a woman who isn’t a vampire or an angel…or human…

Once a broken girl known as Sorrow, Holly Chang now prowls the shadowy gray underground of the city for the angels. But it’s not her winged allies who make her a wanted woman—it’s the unknown power coursing through her veins. Brutalized by an insane archangel, she was left with the bloodlust of a vampire, the ability to mesmerize her prey, and a poisonous bite.

Now, someone has put a bounty on her head…

Venom is one of the Seven, Archangel Raphael’s private guard, and he’s as infuriating as he is seductive. A centuries-old vampire, his fangs dispense a poison deadlier than Holly’s. But even if Venom can protect Holly from those hunting her, he might not be able to save himself—because the strange, violent power inside Holly is awakening…

No one is safe.

REVIEW

“They let you drive now?" he said in a wondering tone of voice calibrated to get under her skin. "I leave for a couple of years and miss kitty's first steps. Did anyone take photos for the baby album I sent you?"

"It's full of pretty pictures." Holly bared her teeth at him in a caricature of a smile. "Honor is a little concerned about how I keep drawing you with your head cut off," she said in a deliberately thoughtful tone, "but an artist must follow her instincts.”

If you ever read one of my reviews of this series you are more than aware that this is one of my favorite uf/pnr series out there and that since book #5 I've become an obssessed fan-girl a hardcore fan of the potential next couple Aodhan & Illium. I might even say that I started that theory or was one of the first fans that saw the potential, so of course that after every next book I'm religiously praying that Nalini Singh will finally succumb to my dirty mind and that the next installment will be theirs, but the 10th book is actually Venom's book, so tough luck poor Purple, maybe next time. :'( xD

But, despite slight disappointment I was still fairly excited for this book, because Venom, a centuries-old vampire with his seductive viper's eyes has definitely been one of the most intriguing GH characters. I got even more excited after I read that he'll find his partner in Holly, Uram's mysterious creation. Unforutunately, when the book was finally published I was still in the phase "I've lost my reading mojo", so it took me some time to give it a chance, but when I did - I could not stop.

Without spoiling anything, my impression of this is installment is that the story was good, uber action-packed and suspenseful, but I'll have to agree with other fans who also described it as a bit lacking, especially in the romance department. The parts I've enjoyed the most were their witty and snarky dialogues that never failed to entertain me. That's why 3.5/ 5 stars. In the meantime, my never-ending prayer for Aodhan's & Illium's book as in mm couple book continues...

RATING: 3.5 / 5 stars

REVIEW: The Summer Palace (Captive Prince #3.5) by C.S. Pacat

Genre: MM Fantasy

Buy The Book: AMAZON

Synopsis On GR:

"When all this is over, we could take horses and stay a week in the palace..."

Set after the events of the Captive Prince trilogy, The Summer Palace is a story about Damen and Laurent. It's an epilogue of sorts to the Captive Prince series.

REVIEW

"You were watching the road..."

This novella is yet another proof how long I've been AWOL from the reader's world, because I've found about it totally by accident and it's the part of one of my most beloved mm fantasy series.

The one thing that prevented me from rating the 3d book of the series, Kings Rising, with 5 stars was the absence of a worthy epilogue and in this short story we get exactly that- a 30 pages long, worthy epilogue.

We finally get a glimpse of our favourite ex-archenemies in their honeymoon-phase, a couple of months after the plot of Kings Rising. Emotional, touching with a bit of steam. Almost perfect. Just like every short story- it gives you a small, sweet tast, but soon enough leaves you hungry for more. That's why 4/5 stars.

REVIEW: Feversong (Fever #9) by Karen Marie Moning

Genre: Urban Fantasy/ Paranormal Romance

Buy The Book: AMAZON B & N / Book Depository

Connect With The Author:

Synopsis: #1 New York Times bestselling author Karen Marie Moning returns with the epic conclusion to her pulse-pounding Fever series, where a world thrown into chaos grows more treacherous at every turn. As Mac, Barrons, Ryodan, and Jada struggle to restore control, enemies become allies, right and wrong cease to exist, and the lines between life and death, lust and love, disappear completely.

Black holes loom menacingly over Dublin, threatening to destroy the Earth. Yet the greatest danger is the one MacKayla Lane has unleashed from within: the Sinsar Dubh—a sentient book of unthinkable evil—has possessed her body and will stop at nothing in its insatiable quest for power.

The fate of Man and Fae rests on destroying the book and recovering the long-lost Song of Making, the sole magic that can repair the fragile fabric of the Earth. But to achieve these aims, sidhe-seers, the Nine, Seelie, and Unseelie must form unlikely alliances and make heart-wrenching choices. For Barrons and Jada, this means finding the Seelie Queen who alone can wield the mysterious song, negotiating with a lethal Unseelie prince hell-bent on ruling the Fae courts, and figuring out how to destroy the Sinsar Dubh while keeping Mac alive.

REVIEW:

"Life isn’t about waiting for peace to arrive, it’s about learning to thrive in the midst of war. There’s always another one on the way.”

The 9th installment of the Fever series, Feversong, was without a doubt one of the most expected books of 2017 not only on my list, but I think on the list of every urban fantasy/paranormal romance junkie around the world, moresoever after *that* thrilling, mouthdropping cliffhanger of Feverborn #8. It had huge potential, but was that potential met? Hm, well, whereas up until the previous book my answer was always positive, this time I'm not so sure.

K.M.Moning outdid herself with every next book in this series, so the expectations of the fandom at book #9 were enormous. When it comes to my reading expirience- I read more than 500 pages long book in 3 days and enjoyed it for the most part, while at other parts it tended to become quite exhausting with its detailed descriptions of the things I was less thrilled about (yes, I am looking at you Queen Aiobheal.)

All in all, without spoiling anything, my conclusion is that despite all its little imperfections I don't regret a bit spending daylight and nights in the apocalyptic, paranormal world of Mac, Jerricho Barrons and the rest of the Nine, Jada, Christian, Dancer and the rest of the gang and I can't wait to do it again. Highly recommended series!

RATING: 3.5/5 stars

Book Description:
Twenty-six-year-old Louie Creighton knows there is something inside him he can’t control…

Ever since he can remember, Louie has had a short fuse. People always said he’d amount to nothing. He wasn’t smart enough to get into college. He wasn’t tough enough to be a Marine. No one believed in him.

No one except his father, Mike Creighton…

Louie’s father always taught him to turn the other cheek. He was a true mentor, teaching him how to be a man in a world of cowards. But when his father is murdered the day after scratching a winning lottery ticket, Louie’s inner monster can’t be contained. He becomes determined to track down the suspect at any cost. All along, he struggles to live by his father’s motto—To find out what you live for, you have to discover what you’d die for.
Then he meets Harlow McPherson…

Her entire life has been a battle. Harlow grew up in the system, bouncing from one foster home to the next. Most weren’t that bad, but some were hell.

When Louie unleashes his inner monster, and Harlow finally faces her demons, will they lose themselves to the darkness, or risk it all Defying Destiny?

 EXCERPT

Trailing my hand down his face to his stomach, I hear his sharp intake of breath when I touch below his belly button. Not low enough to hit pay dirt, but enough that he knows where this is leading. My heart rate picks up in anticipation and my hand starts to shake with nerves. I haven’t done this since the first and last time that Louie and I had sex—my first and only time—but I need this. I want this.

“What are you doing?” he says, voice raspy from sleep.

“Tell me to stop if you don’t want this, but I need you, Louie. I need to feel you inside me. I need you to make me feel alive again, like I know only you can do,” I say before finally moving my hand down further, touching his hard cock straining against his jeans.

“Fuck, I need to you too, Low, but are you sure? We can wait. After last night—” he starts to say, but I cut him off by grabbing him firmly in my hand.

“I’m done talking, so if you don’t want this, you better stop me now.” I don’t waste any time grabbing the button on his jeans and lowering his zipper, but he catches my hand before I can get any further.

Nerves jump out at me again and I worry that he’s actually going to tell me no, to stop, but my fears are quickly dashed aside when he pushes me onto my back and takes my lips in a rough kiss.

“Fuck, I’ve missed you,” he says between kisses.

Not giving me any time to reply, he leans back in to drink from my lips. And I mean that almost literally. It’s like he’s trying to devour me, starting with my mouth, but you won’t hear me complaining. I’ve missed him so much these last couple years; I can’t believe I even made it an hour without him to at least talk to, let alone have him kissing me, touching me, loving me. The night we shared before I left town was one of the happiest days of my life, but being in his arms now and with his lips on mine, I know that it will soon be overshadowed by better days and memories.

With my head back in the game, and my body screaming at me to move faster to get him naked and inside of me, I reach down to unbutton his jeans, but am pleasantly surprised when I notice they are already unbuttoned. That’s good, because I really didn’t want to waste time fumbling with his button in my haste to get them off of him.

Going for his zipper, I start to lower it when Louie lifts his head slightly and stops my movements with his concerned gaze.

“Are you sure about this, Low? I mean, I can wait—fuck, it might kill me—but we don’t have to do this today. You’ve been through hell, I’m sure I don’t even know the half of it, but last night had to have taken a lot out of you too. So if this isn’t something you want right now, I’m okay with it.”

My heart almost breaks with the compassion and love I hear in his voice. I know he means well, and a part of me loves him even more for thinking of my feelings and what I’ve been through at a time like this, but the rest of me just wants him to fuck me already.

“Louie, I don’t know how to put this lightly, so I’m just going to come out and say it. I want this. I want you. So will you shut up already and just fuck me?”

*This is not a stand-alone as much as a revisiting of previous series characters, but it is the 5th story in the Finn Factor series.

Warning:
This holiday feel good is full of nookie. m/m, m/m/f, m/m again…and some more m/m (you’ve read the series right? Then you know how they are.)

REVIEW

Woah...the members of the Finn family are definitely a group of kinky m...*ahem* people. I've read so far only the 1st book in the series Curious which is a bffs-to-lovers mm romance (a pretty good one btw.) and this one which focuses again on Owen's & Jeremy's romance from book 1, but also on romance life of the rest of the siblings whose books I have yet to read.

I loved Owen & Jeremy as a couple in Curious, but I simply adored them in this short novella. They were fun, witty, cute and dirty more than ever. Their happily-ever-after continues in this installment with a bachelor party and and wedding bells and we get a little sneak-a-peek in the lives of the rest of the family whith a couple of pretty steamy scenes.

The only flaw of the book is its shortness, other than that I have no doubt the fans of the series will be more than pleased with the outcome. If you're a mm romance fan with fetish for friends-to-lovers mm romances I definitely recommend book 1!

REVIEW

“I’m a honey badger. I’m fearless.”

Why did it take me so long to pick this book up from my shelf- I'll never understand. Maybe because I wasn't this much blown away by the previous installment, but this one was way, way better.

Honey badgers, the race of con shifters, are one fierce and bad-ass force to be reckoned in the shifter world of the Pride series. And probably the meanest. *Added to my favorite shifter group* Pair them up with grizzly-tiger hybrids they are pretty much unstoppable. Livy Kowalski, a honey badger and professional photographer, & Vic Barinov, the sexy hybrid detective, were fun, cute and pretty awkward, but totally in endearing way unlike the previous book couple. The focus of the story was on their slow-building, but steamy romance and the action-packed, supenseful honey badgers' revenge quest against the murders of Lily's father. As always what you can expect of Laurenston's Pride series is a lot of  humor and snark, plus many of our dear Pride characters make cameo apperance.

4 super-fun stars! Definitely one of the best book in the series. Highly recommended to every paranormal romance/ urban fantasy fan who wants a fun and steamy pnr romance/uf series set in the modern world!
