      "Tabooish" themes are my absolute favorite and I never can't turn down opportunity to read something with that kind of storyline. When I saw that A Little Too Far, along with this oh so hot cover, is about pseudo-incest, I was all "Gimme now!" Did I get what I expected? That and then some more. Did I like it? Well, that is the problem...

       Story & Characters. When I started reading this book, I was hooked - Lexie is back home, avoiding her idiotic ex-boyfriend, preparing for her trip to Italy and talking about her hot stepbrother Trent. Next thing she's home, Trent is home, no parents, they talk and wham --- they are all over each other in the way that is all but brotherly or sisterly. (Oh, shut up and stop glaring at me! Look at the mirror before you start judging someone else for having same fantasies like you.) Five pages later she is in Italy standing on the doorstep and drooling over to-be-priest, Alessandro. Uh, uh...

      There is no way I can talk about A Little to Far without spoilers, so consider yourselves warned. If you didn't read it, come back later when you do. If you do not care about spoilers - continue.
      When a book is based on one big taboo, it could be really well and tastefully written - like Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma. It's a thin line between writing just for the sake of getting the attention and creating a hype, and genuine interest in problem. Lisa Desrochers doesn't have any interest in later - she created romantic and sexual fantasy. Lexie is in love with her stepbrother - who isn't actually related to her, their parents got married when they were 15 or so. Pent up sexual tension over the years ends up in one (or few) mind blowing orgazams. They don't get a chance to talk about what happens and Lexie is all over the ocean in Italy for the rest of the school year. This is where whole thing went "a little too far" for me.
       It wasn't enough to include one taboo, but there has to be more. Meet Alessandro, Franch/Italian/
American hot as sin soon to priest. He cooks, he is ex criminal who lost his V-card with his brother's ex-girl, he knows everything about arts, takes her to this long tours, listens to her confession about Trent. That is not all. Alessandro has a seriously hot body because he is boxer and he's training young boys in Youth Center. And nobody asks questions - why is young almost priest all the time with a girl, why does he take her home to meet family, eating dinner at her apartment... Before you get to say what the fuck, he got our fair lady on kitchen table having her instead of dessert. So...
      Lexie is the most annoying character since Kiera from Thoughtless series. She has no clue what she actually wants, she is all over the place with her emotions and hormones. One minute she is in love with her stepbrother and in the other she is thinking how her priest has broad shoulders and muscular arms. Hmm... Probably the most stupid part of this whole situation is her friendly relationship with Trent - she would curl up in his lap and cry all the damn time while they were growing up. And he is just one year older than her. And their parents didn't mind that their kids were all way too close for "siblings". Yes, that is really how it works in real life.

OKAY, I'M GOOD NOW...

      Back to the original question - did i like A Little Too Far? I would be a complete hypocrite if I would say that I didn't. On contrary, I read it in almost one sitting, I devoured all hot parts. This book goes in my favorite trashy books bookshelf - there are so many thing that bothered me, I hate characters, but I'd still read them. A Little Too Far and other books like this are my guilty, masochist pleasure.

My review: 

Oh I quite liked this book, how best to summarize it? It’s haunting, beautiful, poetic, sensual and melancholic, all at the same time.

Book begins with Solomon Andrews moving into town, he’s a new teacher. A free spirit, enjoying casual sex and without ever having a serious relationship or intention of one.  Main female character, whose name is not mentioned, starts looking him from her bedroom window and very soon she’s bewitched. Solomon is aware of her watching, and thinks it’s just a teenage crush, but after some months and she’s still not bored, letters start to arrive at his doorstep. And they’re his undoing. Beautiful, erotic letters that he can’t resist. 

So he doesn’t. The two of them start a secret affair. She thinks of him as her god, she’s 16 and completely in love, whereas he enjoys her fresh skin and innocent youth and he’s giving her an education, a sexual one, teaching her all about pleasure and secrets of sexuality. 

This first part of the book was quite interesting, we see her ignorance and innocence, she’s completely unaware of how he sees her, she’s childishly obsessed with him, thinking they’re soulmates, divine and meant to be. 

Then comes the second part, some 20 years later. We’re following her story of unsuccessful relationships. She could never forget Solomon, to get over him, in her mind he always stayed a god, untouched, no one compared to him. Because the only way she connected with Solomon was through sex, she seeked that with other men too. But they couldn’t give her what he could, so she’d always end up disappointed. She kept imagining, dreaming, contemplating, searching and waiting. Hoping for him to find her one day and proclaim his undying love for her. 

All throughout the book MC is referred to as SHE, her name is omitted, in fact it is the last word in the book. It is a metaphor, of her trying to find, reclaim herself.  After she’s married, with child, she indeed does meet Solomon again. And then she realized that what she wanted was a fantasy. How she spent all her life living with a memory. 

The main reason I enjoyed this book is its writing style, so sensual and poetic. It’s a book about lust and love, about trying to find love through lust.

The only thing I liked a bit less is the MC, her blindness and inability to see the truth, all the while she’s so passive, quietly suffering and wasting her days. But I loved the ending, how the story came full circle, how she came to all the revelations by herself.

All in all, a wonderful read!

      Mr. Gray, you got served! According to Goodreads, The Ninety Days of Genevieve was first published in... 1996. I tried to check that out, but I didn't manage to find any details about 1996. edition. If this information is not correct, please let me know. But if it is - my mind was trying to figure out how old I was back than and what I was doing. My innocent self was happily making fool of herself while dancing to  Macarena , Where Do You Go and Un-Break My Heart or crying my eyes out after watching Jerry Maguire and sleeping in one bed with my four friends after Scream. And all that time I was completely unaware that out there were this whole different world of chains and whips and pain and pleasure.

     A lot of hotness, sugar-kink & one romantic dominant bastard. First thing, all of you who think that this book won't be your thing because it was written that long ago (note the sarcasm), do not worry - The Ninety Days of Genevieve has ageless feel and you will barely notice age gap between you and setting of the story. Genevieve is young, attractive and successful woman who finds herself in the middle of the lion's liar - Mr. Sinclair thinks that Genevieve needs to learn the lesson. So, we have classic plot twist - sexual agreement - by now predictable turn of events in this kind of novels. But this doesn't have to be a bad thing. It surely is not here - I couldn't go to sleep until I finished reading it (my sister woke up to get ready for work and I went to sleep).

      I shall do that damn striptease thing! My favorite thing about this book? Where to start? Relatable characters, absolutely captivating erotic atmosphere, great romance, amazing steamy scenes. You can even learn few things from this book - like how your sexual appeal comes from inside, from your confidence and attitude, at that moment when you finally let go and forget about your inhibitions. Or how there is no place for inhibitions between two people who are in love. Or that you should always tell him/her what you want - in the bedroom and outside of it.

      Fluffy romance. Only thing that I found a little bit over the top was love story. It is this whole knight in the shiny armor throws his fairy, kinky princess on his white horse and ride into the purple and pink sunset ending. But that is why The Ninety Days of Genevieve is sugar-kink.

      Who should read it? Fans of romantic stories with kinky twist, nothing too shocking or dark. Just your regular full blooded female fantasy. Imagine how On Dublin Street by Samantha Young would look like if  Braden was Dom. Dear gods of kink... I am sweating already!

      It's not what it looks like. So, being a fan of kinky fuckery novels, it is logical that I just had to get my hands on this book as soon as I saw it. Not to mention that pretty cover. I'm wondering where did they bought that stockings? :) It was a dull evening and I needed something to lighten my mood - Awakening looked like just the right thing to help me out. Now, if you are expecting whips and chains, St. Andrew's crosses, ball gags and gang bangs in the style of Cherice Sinclair, well... This is not that kind of a book.

      What is it than? Imagine what would you get if Tammara Webber, Annabel Joseph and E.L.James would have a child. Can you picture it? Kink 101, sweet romance, brooding but gentle alpha male, intelligent main heroine, interesting setting of the story and, of course, HEA. Fans of hard core BDSM stories or 90% sex/10%storyline novels would probably be disappointed. Elene Salinger in Awakening brings us story of two people who look like someone we can pass everyday in our own boring lives and not even think about twice after we see them. She deals more with real life and emotional aspects of BDSM lifestyle than few steamy spankings or torture.

      Was it for me? Or maybe not? I gave it three stars, didn't I? It means that I did enjoy it and that it is not a bad book. Awakening has amazing premise and actual plot, it's not usual sugar-kink erotica that looks more like paranormal romance but instead of vampires or werewolves, you have this big, bad Doms with super powers. Perfect for easing into the genre. I have nothing against books like that, but what I did mind was a bit too much sweetness and few character "attributes". I can't imagine that someone can be that clueless as Claire or that much "exclusive" as Evan. On the other hand, what I seriously adored was bookstore setting - I kept wishing all the time to have something like that in my town.

      There will be sequel! Claire's best friend Bridget will get her own novel - Reflection. It's more companion novel than sequel. I'm looking forward to it because I found her much more intriguing than Claire.

I'm a big fan of paranormal books, especially if they feature the most famous, sexiest and deadliest creatures of the night- vampires. Until I saw this book I didn't read anything paranormal in awhile, so I was very excited when I got to read it. There are some authors you simply trust not to disappoint you and Larissa Ione  is one those authors ever since I've read her Demonica Series. 

Her stories and characters are never boring. The thing I love about her books is that they feature strong, bad-ass characters who can kick some ass. This story was no exception to that rule. The two main characters, Nicole & Ryker, were the main reason I liked this book. Both characters were tough, feisty & fearless - my favorite type. Their past & present get intertwined by one tragic event and so begins their love & hate relationship. I love reading about love & hate relationships in books under a condition that they don't turn into melodramatic soaps and fortunately that wasn't the case with this story. They are my one of my favorite types, because they usually end up with a lot of "angry" and steamy hot scenes, just like this one ;). Nicole and Ryker were at each other throats from the very beginning, never knowing if they want to kick each other ass or jump each other bones. It was fun to read about their back and forth bickering and anticipating when they will finally give in into all that passion that was consuming them. Plus, Ryker was one provocative & sexy vampire with a dirty mouth which I didn't mind at all.

"There´s nothing to finish," she said. "Nothing to finish? You wondered why sex with a vampire was such a big deal. I´m going to show you." Riker moved toward her, slowly, like a cat sneaking up on a bird.  "Stamina." He stepped closer. "Multiple orgasms." Closer, and her mouth went dry. "Flexibility." Closer. Her skin flushed hot. "Strenght." Closer. Her stomach did a flip-flop.  "The ability to sense heat so we know what parts of the body are the most sensitive at the right time." Closer. A throbbing ache started low in her pelvis. "The ability to hear the slightest change in the tempo of your pulse so we know exactly how every stroke, kiss, and lick effects you."

If this quote doesn't make you wanna read this book, I don't know what else will :D.

The first half of the book was IMO better than the second half. In the second half the story kind of lost its spark. My only complaint is that as far of the paranormal world is concerned, we didn't learn anything new. The plot wasn't anything original and for me it seemed that the author was more focused on the romance part which I hope will change with the future books. I would recommend this book to all fans of L. Ione, J. R. Ward, Gena Showalter etc. and especially to those who enjoy hot & spicy paranormal romances. Will I read the next book in the series? Damn, sure I will!

She was a human among vampires, but she felt far less alone than she had as a human among humans.

It's Complicated I've always been a fan of the "I'm in love with my brother's best friend" trope. Judging by this list at Goodreads, I'm not alone!
I'm not quite sure why that setup revs my engines but it does. It's an inherently complicated situation with plenty of possibilities for high-stakes drama. Plus I've always had a thing for slightly older guys. You know, the good-looking, confident sweetheart with a bit of swagger and a protective streak a mile wide. Added bonus? The best friend of a sibling already has the family seal of approval!
Bee Langston shares my outlook. She knows that she's just asking for trouble but she just can't help falling head over heels for Kelly Connolly, the unbelievably sexy former Marine who takes it upon himself to watch out for her after Jeb's death. Of course, she'd rather Kelly took a more, ahem, hands-on role in her life…
But when a stalker threatens her safety, Kelly unleashes those alpha male overprotective instincts he's kept suppressed. Bee begins to realize they've only just scraped the surface of complicated!
Creating this intense, complex relationship between Kelly and Bee made this such an interesting book to write. Both characters have brothers they love and sibling bonds they would do anything to protect—even if it means keeping some pretty huge secrets. Add in Kelly's gambling addict father and his troubles with not one but two (!) loan sharks and, well, it's a recipe for some super intense drama that really amps up the sexual tension.
And who doesn't love more of that?
