But with her lands falling into chaos under a rising tide of vampiric bloodlust, a mysterious and ancient order of angels known as the Luminata calls the entire Cadre together to discuss the fate of her territory.

Accompanying her archangelic lover Raphael to the Luminata compound, guild hunter-turned-angel Elena senses that all is not as it seems. RATING: 3/5 stars

I don't know what's up with me this year since I've rated quite a few of the newest and most expected installments of most of my favorite series with 3 stars. Blasphemy, I know!

Never thought that the day will come I'll rate Singh's Guild Hunter series lower than 4 stars, but that day has come people and I can not lie. Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with other readers who said that this book was more of a "filler" and while I did like it, it didn't blow my mind like the rest of the books in the series. I did crave this installment to be Bluebell's & Sparkle's story and was a bit disappointed we've got Elena & Raphael again instead, but the main reason for my rating is:
~ the slow pacing/dragging of the story at the beginning and towards the end which made me want to skip pages. IMO, the author resolved the main mystery in an antclimatic way and I've found the behaviour of some important characters considering their past unrealistic. And there was too little Bluebell/Illium, damn it!:(

I won't say anything else about that, because there would be spoilers. The things I loved on the other hand are our lovely and fierce consort Elena & her archangel Raphael who are still in the honeymoon phase, of course not to forget our beautiful Sparkle/ Aodhan who had an important role in this installment (yessss!) and the new creepy characters known as the Luminata (w.t.f. O.O)

No matter my rating, this series still remains one of my top urban fantasy series out there and I highly recommend it to every uf reader out there. The next book is again included in my most expected reads of 2017 list. Will I finally get my Bluebell's & Sparkle's story? It remains to be seen.*fingers crossed*

Character BIO

NAME: Julia

TALENT: Rare One

BLOOD SINGER: As a sub-species of humanity who possess the most pure blood of all (Angelic), paranormal talents are a natural part of their lives. The Rare One holds the prophesied pivotal role as queen of her people. With a myriad of different paranormal gifts, she is foretold to unify her own species and the other who run parallel to the Singers.

CAREER: Julia has a lot on her shoulders and as such, she is fiercely guarded from those other species of shapeshifters, Were and vampire who would want her for their own. Julia's talents have been “becoming” since book #1, but now a catalysis event has occurred which will mature all her talents at once. Her role is to unify her species, beginning with the devastated Region One.

HAIR: Champagne/Strawberry blonde, waist length, loose waves.

EYES: Amber/whiskey colored.

BODY: Julia has never been athletic but as her powers have grown, so has her strength. Standing at 5'4” she has the typical coloring and size of a Singer female, yet behind the fragile Singer exterior is a female who is formidable.

PERSONALITY: Julia began as a gentle soul in book #1. She'd had a hard life as an orphaned child living with an aunt who didn't want the responsibility of raising her brother's child. When her new husband is killed, and Julia discovers she is essentially the “blood messiah” to a ton of different supernatural groups, she has to dig deep to shore up a core of steel she didn't know she possessed. Julia's deeply loyal to her friends and loved ones and sacrificial to a fault.

HABITS: She tends to hesitate when violence is needed. She loves to run, and would read a great book if the chaos would still for two seconds.

STATUS: Soul-meld to Scott.

PASSION: Hanging on to who she is, with a world teeming with otherness.

QUOTE:
“... Julia found she couldn't love someone who tried to kill her, call it self-preservation...”

Synopsis On Goodreads:
Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.

Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows...and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…

*** REVIEW ***

The newest installment in the Guild Hunter series by N. Singh only confirms my thoughts that it will be pretty hard to find urban fantasy/pnr romance series as awesome as this one. We are on the 8th book and I'm still in love with the story as I was the first time I gave it a shot a couple of years ago. Nassir's book pretty much fulfilled all my expectations and it was definitely worth of the long waiting. Once again it had everything I prefer when it comes to this genre- dark, gripping, action-packed,  emotional, suspenseful and entertaining plot with amazing characters and epic, passionate romance

Secret rules between mates. Like the secrets he'd have with his own mate once he haunted her down and growled at her for hiding from him. Or maybe he wouldn't growl. He might just bite her instead.

The mischivious, witty, playful, but uber-dangerous member of the Seven- Nassir was always a unique, intriguing, one of my favorites and most entertaining side characters and now we finally get into his head and what's most important - find out about his origin. Yes, you heard me right people, we are one step ahead of Elena and other's who are dying to know what kind of a creature is Nassir and I must admit that I was surprised by the revelation and that all my "theories" about him were wrong. In this installment he decides that the time has come to find his mate and settle down which will prove itself as one of the hardest and most dangerous tasks he took upon himself. Here comes Andromeda - the mysterious schoolar working together with Jessamy on the history of ancient archangels and the granddaughter of the infamous archangel Charisemnon.

"You have secrets," he said slowly. "You wear another skin, too."

I know that you must be thinking what I thought at first about Andromeda - how can a plain schoolar girl be a worthy match for a feral predator like Nassir? Without spoiling anything all I'm going to say is that she proved herself more than worthy with every next page. The romance was slow-building, emotional and full of sexy banter. One Seven member mated, who's next?

"No one could predict how much of the world would be left standing when the Cascade ended."

The infamous Cascade is once again threthening the lives and sanity of our favorite Guild Hunter characters along with our most hated villian Lijuan. I'm not that into action-packed stories, but N. Singh is an expert at writing epic battles and once again she delivered an interesting, thrilling and mythical story. The one battle towards the end of the book is one of my favorites moments.

~ AND NOW TO MY FAVORITE MOMENT OF THEM ALL: (Possible SPOILER so read at your own risk!!!)

ILLIUM: "He'd survived losing her.
He didn't know if he could survive losing Aodhan.
Never before had he seen that truth so clearly and it shook him."

IT'S OFFICIAL: After all this "special, emotional moments" and teasing, one thing is sure- my heart will be crushed if this mm book doesn't happen! *fingers crossed* More and more people are sharing my opinion and I hope most of the Guild Hunters fans will be accepting of this idea. I know the author said no at first when the speculations started, but it seems that didn't prevent her to tease us with every next installment and after this quote the mm fangirl in me refuses to accept otherwise. Do you hear me Ms. Singh? Do not crush my poor mm fangirl's heart, please!

Highly recommended to every urban fantasy/ pnr fan!

P.S. Dear friends & fellow bloggers, it's September- meaning the school is back on and I'm back working, so I probably won't have much time blogging or visiting your blogs as often as I did before, but I'll give my best to catch up on weekends.
