Book summary:

Drew Evans is a winner. Handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York’s most beautiful women with just a smile. He has loyal friends and an indulgent family. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed?

He’ll tell you he has the flu.

But we all know that’s not really true.

Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. She refuses to let anything - or anyone - derail her path to success. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew’s father’s investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy’s life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.

Then, just when Drew is on the cusp of having everything he wants, his overblown confidence threatens to ruin it all. Will he be able untangle his feelings of lust and tenderness, frustration and fulfillment? Will he rise to the most important challenge of his life?

Can Drew Evans win at love?

Tangled is not your mother’s romance novel. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks he knows. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

My review:

Girl meets player, they fall in love, player changes his ways.

It’s a good story. This is that story.

Tangled or The Wisdom of Drew Evans

Now that the time to read Twisted and Tamed has FINALLY come, I figured I was due for a Tangled refresher. Reading it for the second time may not have been as fun as it was the first time, which was probably because of my gloomy state of mind, but Drew sharing his wisdom the way only Drew does is always an enjoyable read.

Tangled is one of the books I remember 2013 by. I had more fun reading it than I ever could have imagined. The funny books are always a gamble with me. Either I love them, or I find them over the top and end up hating them. I'll give you a second to guess which category Tangled ended up in. ;)

*********

The plot was pretty simple: the good old story about a player and the girl who made him change. It's been done countless times. BUT none of them had a Drew to tell the tale, and that's what made this book special. Drew's POV was priceless.

I am a bad, bad boy. Think Kate will punish me if I tell her how bad I am?

See?

As I was saying, my favorite part about Tangled was Drew's hilarious POV. His rules, analogies, and theories were as entertaining as Barney Stinson's. I was expecting that at some point Drew would pull out his own Playbook. He didn't, btw.

Throughout the entire book I was so glad the book was in Drew's and not Kate's POV. From what I've seen of her, I doubt I would have enjoyed it half as much as I did. That is also why I've been avoiding reading Twisted for so long. I hope Kate won't ruin it... much. I doubt she'll say something like:

I bet you didn't know this, but lots of guys have a thing for Ariel. You know, from The Little Mermaid? I’ve never been into her myself, but I can understand the attraction: She fills out her shells nicely, she’s a redhead, and she spends most of the movie unable to speak.

However, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Enough about Kate, and back to Drew drooling over Kate. It wasn't just that the book had Drew's POV, but it was also the way Drew told the story that won me over. He was like a narrator in a movie breaking the fourth wall. He kept telling us what to pay attention to, what to look at, how much to feel sorry for him, and whatnot.

Besides Drew, my favorite character was his little niece, who I hope to see in the sequels. She was just adorable, and so were the scenes with her and Drew.

Mackenzie raises her hand proudly. “I have a bagina.”
I smirk. “Yes, you do, sweetheart. And someday, it’s gonna help you rule the world.”

Yes, I really look forward to seeing those two.

And, Kate? Don't screw this up for me.

XOXO

  1. I know what you mean : though I absolutely loved Tangled (and Holy frigging matrimony) and Drew's hilarious point of view, I was rather reluctant to read Twisted , so I'll be a coward and let you read them and tell us how you felt ;)

    1. So sorry for my delayed response, Cecilie. I'm only now seeing your comment. :( This book is contemporary romance that's also on the erotic side, and funny. The whole series is. If that's something you'd like, then you should meet Drew Evans. :) I'm obviously his fan.
